Titityy is a handmade ceramic salt shaker. It is made by casting porcelain slip clay in to a plaster mold. There are different kinds of birds: basic black and white glazed and hand painted birds. Hand painted birds are unique, each one of them are glazed differently. The bird stands on a cork stopper which holds the content inside. The peak sprinkles the content around by a slight tap, tilt or a shake.
The Titityy bird is an aesthetical but functional ceramic piece. A simplified form of a little bird standing on a table is more pleasing to the eye than an average salt package or any table spice package. There can be several birds standing on a table and still looking like a carefully placed composition.
Titityy, ti-ti-tyy (written in Finnish) is a basic call of a Great Tit (Parrus Major) wich is one of the common birds to be seen in the trees, yards and feeding places all around in Finland.
